What does the deposit cover, and is it refundable?

The deposit funds the detailed estimating phase — real measurements, real bids from real subcontractors, real material lead-time research. The amount scales with project size. When you move forward with the build, the deposit is credited toward your project. If the scope turns out to be something we can't deliver responsibly, we'll be straight with you about it.

What's your service area?

We work across Northeast Ohio — Cleveland, Akron, Canton, and the surrounding counties. For the right project, we'll travel further. Just ask.

Is there a minimum project size?

We're built for mid-size commercial projects, generally starting around 2,500 sq ft or $75k in scope. Smaller jobs are sometimes a fit, especially when they're tied to restoration work from our sister company, Water Extraction Team.

Are you licensed, bonded, and insured?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Slake Construction Group carries general liability, workers' comp, and project bonding appropriate to the scale of work we take on. Certificates available on request.

How long does a typical project take?

It depends entirely on scope. A small tenant build-out can wrap in 6–10 weeks. A full restaurant or retail remodel runs 3–5 months. We'll give you an honest range during the site visit and a real schedule with the detailed estimate.

How do you handle change orders?

Every change order is scoped, priced, and signed before any work happens. Never after. If something we couldn't have foreseen comes up mid-build — hidden structural damage, code surprises, supply issues — we surface it, document it, and price it transparently before proceeding.

How does Slake work with Water Extraction Team?

When WET handles mitigation on a commercial property — water extraction, mold remediation, smoke or fire cleanup, biohazard work — Slake can step in for the reconstruction without a handoff gap. Same project leads, same documentation chain, single point of accountability.

Do you self-perform or use subcontractors?

Both. We self-perform certain trades and partner with vetted Northeast Ohio subcontractors for everything else. Every sub we use has a track record we've personally verified.

Question 9

Who pulls permits?

Accepted Answer

We do. Permit management, inspections, and code compliance are part of our scope on every commercial project. You shouldn't have to chase the building department — that's our job.

What kind of warranty do you offer?

Accepted Answer

Standard one-year workmanship warranty on all new construction work, with manufacturer warranties passed through on materials and equipment. Specific terms are spelled out in the contract.
