Our Story
Rooted in restoration.
Slake is the commercial construction arm of Water Extraction Team — a Northeast Ohio restoration company. We started with disaster response. We grew into the builders who remodel and rebuild commercial spaces across the region.
We started as Water Extraction Team — a restoration crew that showed up at three in the morning when a sprinkler line let go or a fire was just barely out.
For years, our work was water mitigation, mold remediation, smoke and fire damage, biohazard and trauma cleanup, contents restoration — and then the reconstruction that always came after.
The more reconstruction work we did, the more we saw the same pattern on the commercial side: business owners who needed a contractor that understood remodeling — not just new builds. Restaurants, retail shops, doctor offices, bars, and multi-family properties that needed to be brought back to life.
So Slake Construction Group was born. Same standards, same DNA — focused now on mid-size commercial remodeling, tenant build-outs, and revitalization across Northeast Ohio. Our restoration sister company, Water Extraction Team, still answers the 3 a.m. calls.
Today we take on commercial remodeling, tenant build-outs, and revitalization projects across the region. We still answer the phone when it matters.

The Name
Why Slake?

To slake means to quench — a fire, a thirst, a need.
Slaked lime is one of the oldest building materials in the world, created when water meets stone and begins the process of construction.
It’s a word that naturally connects water, fire, and building.
For us, that wasn’t just interesting.
It was exactly who we are.
